Information and Support :
We provide information and support to individuals and groups on all aspects of disability and caring. At H.A.D. we have people with extensive knowledge and experience of health and social care and in particular the field of disability and caring and this is made available to local people, professionals and organisations who contact the Association.

Information is provided by direct contact with H.A.D. staff and volunteers, by telephone and in writing through info sheets, flyers and other ways and through the H.A.D. website and other websites managed by H.A.D.

Representation and Advocacy :
We seek to represent the interests of people with disabilities and carers at meetings and by attending partnership boards and working parties where we work closely with others in the interests of local people.

We seek to raise awareness of the needs of people with disabilities and carers, to highlight the problems they experience, to promote their rights and identify the services they require.

We can act as advocates for people with disabilities and carers and help them to become empowered so they can deal with problems they experience and exercise their legal rights to get the services they need.

We are
the main voluntary organisation in the London Borough of Havering that is working on behalf of local people who have a wide range of physical and sensory disabilities and the people who are looking after them at home.

We are
an umbrella organisation to which currently 73 local groups comprising people with various disabilities and carers are affiliated.

We are
governed by Trustees with extensive knowledge of disability and our services are managed by the Chief Executive, paid staff and volunteers.

We are
working in partnership with the health services, social services and other voluntary organisations to further the interests of local people and through our services seek to meet their needs and improve the quality of their lives.

We are
providing information, individual and group support, one-to-one computer training, advocacy, representation, befriending, carers support and direct payments development which are free of charge to users of these services.

We are
providing a range of services funded by Havering Council, Bridge House
Trust, City Parochial Foundation and the Department of Health.
